altFollowing on from a grant aided feasibility study to assess the viability of building up to 10 affordable homes in Uppingham for the under 35s, community partnership Uppingham First has submitted a bid for government funding to create a new housing trust which will build and manage affordable homes in Uppingham.

The Community Housing Fund has substantial grants on offer to support such bids, with the option of such new trusts also becoming registered providers  of housing and managing them on a day to day basis. If secured, the grant will cover the cost of setting up the new trust and preparing  a proposal for up to 10 new homes on the Badley Orchard site. The site has been donated by the Badley family to support the initiative.

The partnership should hear by March 2019 whether the bid has been successful.
